Eco-sustainability and environmental certification for the protection of people’s health
The passion and the quality craftsmanship that MF Design puts into its work is officially acknowledged.
Besides our unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability principles, which are guaranteed by our use of high-quality, zero-impact reclaimed wood, we have achieved certification that acknowledges our attention to man’s health and respect for our delicate, valuable ecosystem:

PEFC certification acknowledges that new wood comes from sustainably managed forests.
FSC certification. MF Design is a member of the Forest Stewardship Council, an international, non-profit, independent NGO established in 1993 to promote responsible forest and plantation management. Its members include NGOs and environmental groups (e.g. WWF, Greenpeace), social organisations (e.g. National Aboriginal Forestry Association of Canada), forest owners, companies that process and sell wood and paper (e.g. Tetra Pak, Mondi), large retail groups, and researchers and engineers, totalling almost 900 members.

LEED certification. LEED® is a certification system that promotes sustainability by measuring how well a building performs in terms of energy savings and water efficiency, CO2 emission reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, use of materials and resources, project and location.

Certification is issued to a whole building, not to individual products, but the final certification mark given to the building is determined by the use of compliant products and materials: for this reason it is essential to define the LEED credits each product will contribute.

Although LEED mapping is voluntary, we at MF Design have decided to adopt this system to maintain and increase the quality standards of our production.

The types of wax and glues used by MF Design on its products contribute to acquiring LEED credits:
The waxes and oils used to treat the board surfaces are completely natural. They are obtained from linseed oil, hempseed oil, propolis, sunflower seed oil, carnauba wax and beeswax. These elements give floors, cladding and furniture a soft, luminous appearance, and a distinctive scent.
Because the glues used are formaldehyde and pentachlorophenol free, they do not contain volatile organic substances that can compromise consumers’ health.
