In a beautiful historic building in the center of Belluno we took part in the renovation of this apartment on the first floor.
The client, tied to the apartment for family reasons, wanted to preserve as many of the existing wooden elements as possible and complete the project with only reclaimed old wood for the floors.
All the healthy ancient fir beams were carefully cleaned, sanitized and treated in a dryer to have an anti-woodworm effect. We then bleached them with an almond-scented wax in order to give brightness to the room.
For the floors we used old fir boards with a first layer recovered from a barn in Val di Zoldo, properly cleaned and treated against woodworms in a drying room and then waxed with a slightly grey tone, almost as if they had been washed with our grandmothers lye.
Furthermore, other furnishing elements have been added such as a washbasin top in old oak and a wardrobe in new oak, made by us as well.
The client told me about his desire to preserve the style of this beautiful historic building in the center of Belluno, Piazza delle Erbe, using the existing ancient wooden beams and coordinating them with an original floor. It seemed a difficult challenge until I met MF Design who made simple and feasible what I did not believe possible. The result for me and for the client was a success!
