Ceiling coverings, false ceilings and wooden slabs. Classic, rustic or modern designs, to combine aesthetics and energy efficiency.

At MFDesign we design and create wooden false ceilings, ceilings and floors. We use both new and anciet (reclaimed) wood, including: walnut, fir, larch, elm, poplar, oak, durmast, ash, beech, maple, hornbeam, cherry and pine. Exposed beams and solid wood planks make our works beautiful and functional. We combine the naturalness of wood with classic, rustic or modern designs thanks to the variety of processes and finishes available. We improve the thermal and acoustic insulation of your rooms.

Wooden slabs and drop ceilings from design to installation

At MFDesign we have proven experience in the wood furniture sector, combining craftsmanship and new technologies. We select new wood from certified sources and sustainable cutting, but we embrace the philosophy of recovery, promoting the use of ancient wood and restoring existing works when possible.

In our factory in Sedico (BL) we prepare plaks, panels and beams for ceilings that are due to last over time. Our craftsmen can enhance each work with inlays, rosettes, frames and hand decorations.

The boards or panels can be made with great flexibility in length, width and thickness. The installation methods are multiple and can adapt to the requests of the customer or the interior designer. Specific fireproofing treatments allow obtaining the certification B-s1,d0, compliant with the European regulation UNI EN-13501-1.tt.

Wooden slabs

Wooden slabs have always been appreciated for their beauty and functional edge. Relatively light and flexible, they help reduce the overall load on the building and are suitable for new construction and redevelopment work. Exposed beams are always a focal element that gives value to the property.

A wooden slab has excellent thermal and acoustic insulation characteristics, which can be further improved with special panels and materials. Compared to masonry solutions, it greatly reduces the problem of humidity and guarantees high resistance during seismic events.

When designing or renovating, a wooden slab can be the perfect option for creating an attic or insulating the loft.

Hardwood Ceilings

We make wooden coverings for ceilings, on masonry or other materials. The planks or panels are glued or nailed onto a doweled wooden structure. These works can have both an aesthetic value and a thermal and acoustic insulation improvement. Wood also helps reducing humidity problems.

Our wooden ceilings can be further enhanced with decorative elements, frames and customized designs. With a final varnish you can also obtain a white wooden ceiling, to give maximum brightness to the rooms.

Wooden drop ceilings

Our wooden drop ceilings are made with two main techniques: coffered (wooden panels) or with planks (slats) interspersed with beams. The supporting structure can be in fir wood or aluminum.

A wooden false ceiling is an ideal solution for multiple needs:

  • Thermal and acoustic insulation
  • Creating a space for electrical, heating and air conditioning systems
  • Easy integration of lighting systems
  • Solving humidity problems on brick ceilings
  • Give warmth and elegance to the rooms
  • Reduce the height of the rooms and regulate the temperature more easily

Depending on the choice of materials, installation method and finishes, our wooden false ceilings can adapt to all design styles: modern, classic or rustic. The interventions can be completed in a few days and generally do not require permits.

We take care of all the steps of the project:

  • Preliminary consultation and inspection
  • Design
  • Choice of materials
  • Manufacturing
  • Laying
  • Lighting systems
  • Thermal and acoustic insulation systems
  • Finishes and treatments
  • Renovation of old wooden ceilings

Why choose a wooden drop ceiling?

  • Thanks to many options of materials, treatments and finishes it can suit all types of design
  • It gives a natural, warm and welcoming look to the rooms
  • Wood is a lightweight, easy-to-install material with excellent structural properties
  • Reclaimed or certified cut wood is an ecological and sustainable material
  • Wood has excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties
  • A wooden cladding reduces humidity problems in attics and slabs

A wooden false ceiling does not require much maintenance and avoids problems related to paint and plaster. The structure, although light, is suitable for housing electrical systems, lighting or insulating materials.
