Mountain architecture: Typical Tabià of the Alps with a revisited design.

The mountain Tabià, represents the architectural emblem of the mountain landscape. The mountain Tabià, from the Latin Tabulatum, which defined a building characterized by a wooden palisade, is the typical wooden barn that was once used to store hay and livestock.

"Giving a new life to our tabià",
this was the request of a family passionate about the mountains, willing to retouch the architectural dress of their holiday home while maintaining its traditional soul.

In Selva di Cadore, in the heart of the Dolomites, is this typical mountain tabià, characterized by parts in Dolomia stone and large wood coverings in larch and fir, for the preservation of hay.

What can really upset an environment is creativity.
The use of visible black steel elements respects
the geometry of the tabià, and the wood respects its original nature.

The new version of this tabià included a structural and rehabilitation intervention, implementing innovative solutions for energy saving and security of the structure.
The architectural renovation project was entrusted to the architecture studio EXiT based in Treviso, with professionals including the architect Francesco Loschi, Giuseppe Pagano, Paolo Panetto, who, in collaboration with engineers and designers, have developed a restyling project without changing the structural essence.

The careful removal of the identifying elements of the house, which are the wooden beams and planks, has allowed the recovery of the above elements thanks to a cleaning and a sanitization process carried out by the team of experts of MFDesign.
The signs of the time of the old wood are symbol of history and wisdom, so they should not be removed, but rather embellished. The philosophy of MFDesign is born from its raw material, lived is more beautiful.

The building is totally self-sufficient from the energy point of view thanks to a photovoltaic system integrated in the larch roof. It also generates zero emissions thanks to an electric underfloor heating system.
