Like every year, the U.S. Pantone Institute has decided on the hue that design enthusiasts and others will bring into their homes: 2021 will be the year of Illuminating Yellow and Ultimate Gray.
The choice of two independent colors expresses a message of positivity supported by a sense of strength," says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. The preference of these two colors not only has aesthetic value, but also has importance on a psychological level."
Concrete and firm the gray, warm and optimistic the yellow,
these colors convey a sense of resilience and hope.
We need to feel encouraged and uplifted at this moment in history;
it is something essential to the human mind.
How can furniture woods fit into the category of these two colors? In nature there are woods that tend to take on shades of yellow or gray and that can be indulged, enhanced or muted by stains ( ours strictly made and LEED certified ). Let's find out together what they are and how we can use them effectively in our projects, get inspired by some of our realizations.
GRAY CONCRETENESS.
Gray is the color of balance and concreteness, it is elegant and timeless. A room dressed in gray speaks of sophistication and uniqueness. Its many shades suit every environment.
Gray is an ever elegant color
in its simplicity and in all its shades, whether cold, neutral or warm
it is always a comfortable choice that stands the test of time.
Oak can be defined as a neutral gray wood, in fact it has a cool tinge that can attest it in the palettes of grays, as grays can also be ancient woods that have shades due to oxidation. Oak is a wood of great value, great stability suitable for furniture and flooring work, if antique recovered it is undisputed catalyst of beauty.
YELLOW OPTIMISM
YELLOW OPTIMISM Yellow is the color of liveliness; it is sunny, magnetic and cheerful.
Larch, fir and cedar possess a natural tendency toward a warmer hue that is enhanced in yellow/honey colorations.
Larch in its natural hue is light in color, with a prominent grain and distinct hues. It is widely used, as tradition dictates, in mountain dwellings, in more rustic renovations, and in the restoration of cabins and stavoli, plus if wisely interpreted, it can be an innovative design choice.
Over the years, fir has been the material of choice in mountain homes; thanks to its ductility, it is suitable for decorative work; thanks to its stability, it lends itself masterfully to the creation of paneling and staircases.
Finally, cedar, with its unmistakable scent and antiseptic property, lends itself to special processing. Yellow in all its shades stimulates optimism, use it without fear, joy will thank you!
